Sewing; Stress Relief with Results!

One of the things I really enjoy doing is sewing clothing and crafts.
I started sewing when I was a teenager, and really haven't looked back. Though I love to sew for myself, I find myself sewing for my children and husband and friends more!
I also do quite extensive sewing for my medieval group, as we wear period costumes for every event. This article by "T" on being a "Garbaholic" sums up my life pretty well, I think.

My favorite link is About Sewing. Here you can link to hundreds of sewing related sites, vast in array and very well organized.

Also check out The Costume Page, with links to everything from middle eastern to norse to fantasy, with instructional pages, pictures, purchasing options, you name it! A MUST SEE jumping off place.

There are several sites that give directions for simple SCA garb:
Making a simple T-Tunic shows how to make the simplest and most adaptable garment for events ranging from camping to court.
Tunic AND pants!are also a good staple for your wardrobe.
Byzantium Clothing Information is an in depth look and the make up and construction of garb from this era.

How to wrap and wear a Great Kilt
is a must for all those "Braveheart" fans!
Footwear of the Middle Ages has a large range of footwear styles from several centuries, as well as detailed instructions on how to make them!  I have actually made a great pair of shoes using a pattern from this site – check details here.

I have sewn three wedding dresses for medieval weddings, and would love to show them here just as soon as I get a scanner!

My latest fascination is to teach my daughter to sew. I have great hopes of fun together! I also look for advice through a sewing bulletin board at Parent's Place, a great resource for all things to do with parenting in addition to a small sewing corner!
